Just Ask

Religion can be a very touchy subject for many people. Varying beliefs with no absolute way of proving beyond a doubt which one is right, can make for some uncomfortable conversations and some nasty wars. So what is religion anyway? Is it about rituals? Is it about the communication between man and God and vice versa? Is religion just singing and donating money --and loving thy neighbor?

Some people believe that true religion is conducting oneself in the manner in which mankind was instructed to by God. These teachings have been diluted down into many different religions, but the same basic commandments are found all over the world;they have not been lost in translation or changed by time and opinions. For someone who wants to know what to believe, what is true, or what they should be doing, there is a simple answer.

The real test of whether or not a religious group's beliefs or practices are real can be answered in a very simple way: ask God. If He is the one that all of this instruction and knowledge comes from, and if He cares so much for us, as virtually every religion believes, then why would he ignore questions from us? He wouldn't. If you're not sure whether He's real or not, ask Him about it.

This is true religion -- going to God first and doing what He asks, instead of going through man to speak to God. Churches are organizations designed to give individuals the support they need while they are seeking to live a godly life. In other words, churches exist to serve man rather than man existing to serve the church.

Any questions, doubts, concerns, or disbeliefs can all be answered if someone is willing and humble enough to simply admit that "maybe there is something I don't know" and then ask God about it.
